I'm Thankful

It's Thanksgiving Day, the family's all here,
Laughing and talking, all in good cheer.
The turkey all roasted, the smell fills the air,
We sit down to dinner, each in our chair.

Each seat is taken by one that I love,
I thank God for the blessings He sends from above.
I glance 'round the table and I realize,
That someone is missing...and tears fill my eyes.

There's no little dog parked by my feet,
Patiently waiting for his bites of meat.
And still I am thankful, my heart tells me so,
For having known you, my dear precious 'Mo.

I'm grateful God sent you to love and to care,
I'm thankful you're safe at the Bridge up there.
But still I am sad, I can't hide the tears,
You sat by my feet....for so many years.

In My Dream

You came to me in my dream last night,
I have waited, oh so long!
I hadn't dreamt of you since you left,
I was wondering what was wrong.

Then finally last night you came...
we were together in a park,
you were walking just a little behind
and it was nearing dark.

I waited for you and called your name,
but you stayed just out of reach.
I wept and tried to understand
the lesson you'd come to teach.

I've finally come to realize
what it is you were trying to show...
You're still right here.....ever so close...
And I still long to touch you 'Mo.
